The number N=226W is an inventory number of the Königliches Porzellan-kabinett in the Turmzimmer of the Residenzschloss in Dresden. This is where part of the royal collection was displayed during the conversion of the Holländisches Palais into the Japanisches Palais, housing the Asian and Meissen porcelain collections of Augustus I the Strong. An entry in the 1769 inventory reads: “no. 226: two round garniture pots, with lids and quite pointed gilded finials enamelled with landscapes, flowers and birds, 14 Zoll high, 6 ¾ Zoll in Diam.” The pair to it, with its cover, is preserved in the Porzellansammlung in the Zwinger, Dresden (in.. no. PE 1901 a,b).
